A site to discuss better education for all « » // Nikhil Goyal, a graduate student and veteran activist for public schools, is deeply impressed by Senator Bernie Sanders’ Writing in “The Nation,” Goyal describes Sanders’ plan as “the most progressive education platform in modern American history.” As a historian, I would drop the adjective “modern.” No President or Presidential candidate has offered a proposal so bold and sweeping, which directly addresses the fiscal starving of American public education at the same time that the federal government got into the business of regulating, mandating, and controlling the nation’s schools and classrooms.
